When we launched FuturePoly in 2010, I felt there was a serious void that needed to be filled in art education, specifically around video game production. I am very proud of what the school has accomplished in an effort to fill that void, and especially proud of the success our students have gone on to achieve.
That being said, after seven great years I have decided to close our FuturePoly campus and discontinue classes.
This decision ultimately boils down to focus. Many of you know that I've been working on my own independent game for the past few years. I've realized that this split focus has taken its toll on both endeavors.
I will be spending the next year focused on shipping my game. During this time, FuturePoly the company will be in a hibernation of sorts. The videos on our YouTube channel will still be available, and past students will still have access to our forums.
There are many great resources available online for cheap and even free education. Please see the links below for resources I recommend for 3D and digital painting.
I'd like to personally thank all of the instructors and guest artists we've had over the years. FuturePoly only worked because you all believed in it and were generous enough to share your experience with others. I'd also like to thank Sabrina, our office manager, for running the show and being a friend to our students.
Lastly, I'd like to thank all the students who attended our classes and workshops over the years. It's been a pleasure teaching you, and I wish you the best of luck in pursuing whichever dreams excite you.
